Baltic Triangle regeneration plans move forward
Baltic Triangle stakeholders met on Wednesday 6th April at Elevator Studios to discuss and present a clear vision for the future regeneration of the Baltic Triangle.
The meeting included representatives from the areas businesses and landlords and Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Vision representatives.|
Chris Lee from Microbrands One, who organised the event explained:
“Liverpool has had an impressive facelift over the last few years and the city is certainly in great shape, with new shopping areas, hotels and public buildings.
"Our plans for the Baltic Triangle however will add a completely different dimension to the city offering a refreshing and relaxed area to work and live.
"The area is of historical importance and what is important to the core of the plan is to keep its industrial heart while making use of the disused buildings. We wish to nurture the creative business community along with individual and independent leisure, restaurant and hotel options.
“There are also plenty of opportunities to develop small economical units with easy lease terms for young businesses, workshops and craft based start ups. Local college and university students will be able to try out their ideas in an area which will be receptive and supportive. Ultimately our plan is to try to steer the way the area develops rather than leaving what happens here to chance."
Mark Lawler, Baltic Contemporary Urban Centre's Manager said:
"Baltic Creative CIC and our tenants are delighted to see the vision for the area begin to take shape. The feedback from all businesses in the area has been incredibly supportive of the vision. The baltic triangle area presents a number of fantastic creative, digital, light industrial and retail based opportunities.
"Baltic Creative will ensure our 2nd phase development, due on site in June 2011, will contribute to the rising creative enthusiasm for the area and we hope our scheme will act as a catalyst for further investment. As a landlord we are receiving enquiries from a wide range of creative and digital businesses wanting to relocate in the triangle. It really is an exiting time to be based here and we support the vision wholeheartedly."
