Big Chip Awards for Merseyside creative businesses backed by Liverpool Vision
Liverpool Vision is urging the Merseyside's creative and digital businesses to enter this year’s Big Chip Awards.
The awards honour firms from the north of England who have excelled in their use of digital technology, from online marketing campaigns to video games and iPhone apps.
The Liverpool Post is partnering with the events’s organisers and is encouraging firms from Merseyside and Cheshire to take part.
Entries are open to any organisation or business which has undertaken digital initiatives in the past year. Entries will also be accepted for projects under way for more than a year, but which hit important milestones in the past 12 months.
The region’s growing video games sector is being recognised through new category, Best Use of Gaming.
The awards are also being supported by the Post’s sister titles, the Manchester Evening News and the Newcastle Journal.
Steve Smith, digital industry director at Liverpool Vision, said: “The Big Chip Awards are now truly established as the most significant digital awards in the UK.
“With its origins in Manchester they now represent the talent and creativity in digital media right across the north. Liverpool Vision continues to support this great showcase and urges any Liverpool city region digital business to enter.
“With categories embracing all sections of digital talent from software to games, the Big Chips demonstrate the diversity in skills Northern cities can offer in a celebration of excellence.”
Shaun Fensom, chairman of organiser Manchester Digital, said: “2012 will see the Big Chips continue to extend their reach right across the North. Despite tough economic conditions, it’s very exciting to be ushering in the 14th Big Chip Awards – digital excellence has never been so important both to the health of our economy, and increasingly also in everyone’s daily lives.
“Last year’s awards were the largest ever for submissions and the growth of The Big Chip Awards celebrate how forward thinking digital companies and creative agencies across the North are taking the lead in creating the technology that will define our future.”
Categories will be judged by a panel of leading industry figures chaired by former New Media Age editor in chief Michael Nutley. Entries can be submitted at www.bigchipawards.com
