Help brand Stanley Street Quarter

The people of Liverpool are being urged to help choose a new creative concept for the city’s Stanley Street Quarter.

Brand communications agency, Bolland & Lowe, has assisted in designing three concepts for the area, widely recognised as Liverpool’s ‘gay village’.

All members of the community are being asked to give feedback on the designs and help choose the final brand.

John Lowe, Managing Director of Bolland & Lowe, said: “The Stanley Quarter brand must have a strong visual identity, helping to drive the area’s community and create ownership of the brand.”

“This is an ideal opportunity for all people, gay or straight, to get involved and give us their views about each of our designs. I have my favourite, but don’t want to influence the voting. I can’t wait to see which concept is chosen.”

The final chosen logo will be displayed on a variety of advertising and promotional material in the area, will be used by local businesses and community groups and will also be used alongside the new “it’s liverpool” campaign.

The branding of the quarter and its logo are just one of number of improvements, endorsed by the city council’s cabinet following a recent report.

Liverpool Vision’s Head of Area Investment, Jenny Douglas said: “This is just the start of the exciting changes which will be happening in the Stanley Street Quarter.

“The recent report by Feria Urbanism highlighted the area’s potential to attract tourists and boost the city’s economy. We are now working on a number of projects which will deliver improvements and create greater transparency, visibility and improved access to the quarter.”

Paul Amann, Stanley Street Quarter Project Manager, said: “The Stanley Street Quarter has enormous potential and is the place where we can do something different, let’s choose a design that reflects that goal.”

Stanley Street Quarter is widely recognised as the “gay village” of Liverpool. The Stanley Street: A Vital Urban Quarter report recommends this identity as the centre of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGB&T) scene is given official support by Liverpool City Council, other agencies and organisations, both public and private, as a means of enhancing and promoting the area, and by extension, the city as a whole.
