Ian Green, director of business development at the college, has been on a week-long visit to the country, talking to more than 65 colleges across China about apprenticeship models and work-based learning programmes.
He said: “Educational establishments in China are keen to understand more about the apprenticeship and workplace learning schemes we offer.
“We’ve been talking about best practice in this area and how educational establishments can work closer with employers to set up apprenticeships and provide businesses with the skilled workforce they need.”
The college has been involved in a number of projects with businesses, recently piloting its Work Academy.
This programme offered out-of-work candidates a training scheme, work placement and a guaranteed job interview at the end of the course.
Elaine Bowker, principal of Liverpool Community College, said: “The college is playing a broad role in the life and structure of the city, working with employers to help students develop the skills needed by businesses.”
