Liverpool creative firms urged to back charity CALM
A charity that works to prevent suicide among young men has launched a campaign to raise £50,000 from 100 of the region’s creative firms.
National charity, the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), wants to get 100 firms from the creative sector to raise £500 each.
CALM offers support and advice to young men through a confidential helpline and through its website. The latest campaign – Get Creative and Carry On – will help fund an additional CALM Helpline operator for a year, and will fund the launch of a text message advice service.
Simon Howes, development coordinator for CALM in Merseyside, said: “We are really pleased to be working so closely with many more creative organisations on Merseyside. We have always had a lot of support from the region’s creative sector, and we are really happy to cement our partnership with this campaign.
“CALM resonates so well with young men because the brand is creative and edgy, and we go to great lengths to ensure everything we do relates to those we engage with.
Add a commentRecommend “What we want from this fundraising campaign is for people to think outside of the box in designing their own fundraising activity. Having fun with your colleagues and being creative is a great way to boost your staff morale and raise cash for CALM.”
The project was launched at this week’s Kin networking event, organised by support agency ACME.
Kevin McManus, director of ACME, said: “CALM is a pioneering campaign and one we are really pleased to support. Get Creative and Carry On is an excellent way for Merseyside’s thriving creative industry to direct their know-how and expertise towards raising money for a very worthwhile organisation.
“It goes to show that, no matter what brief the creative sector in the Liverpool city region is given, they will always step up to the challenge and offer a thought-provoking and creative solution.”
