Liverpool Food & Drink Festival Secures Sponsorship from City's Top Restaurants

Five of the city’s top restaurants have today been announced as the associate sponsors of this year’s Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.

Organisers SK Events said previous sponsors Il Forno and Sapporo Teppanyaki, The London Carriage Works and Delifonseca will all lend their support to the annual event yet again, while Catalan restaurant and deli Lunya, which was named the 'People's Favourite Restaurant' in the Liverpool Food and Drink Awards in 2010, will become an associate sponsor for the first time.

Now in its fourth year, the week long celebration looks set to be the biggest food and drink festival in Liverpool’s history.

Denise Harris, Managing Director of SK Events, said: “The success of last year’s festival has helped us to create an impressive list of sponsors and supporters for 2011 and getting these establishments on board really does speak volumes about the magnitude of the city’s burgeoning restaurant and bar scene.

“Since we started the event in 2007, these restaurants have played such a big part in making the festival happen. Year on year they work tirelessly on promoting our showcase and in doing so, inspire others to follow suit.”

Launching on September 3 and 4 in Sefton Park, Liverpool Food and Drink Festival will delight thousands of visitors yet again with an array of mouth watering dishes from some of the finest bars, restaurants, hotels and food retail outlets in the city. Visitors will also be able to enjoy live music, celebrity cooking demonstrations, masterclasses, sampling and a children’s interactive area.

Peter Kinsella from Lunya said: “The LFDF is a great showcase for the city’s restaurants and gives all of us an opportunity to take our food out to the Liverpool public and highlight what a modern and diverse food offering the city has.”

Since this year’s festival was announced, more than 70 bars, restaurants, producers and hotels have already signed up to take part.

Denise added: “Restaurants are recognising the benefits and the return on investment for them when they get involved in the event and that reflects in the number of huts we have sold so far and the alterations we have made to the size of this year’s festival site in Sefton Park.”
