Liverpool’s new base2stay hotel shortlisted in top awards
A NEW Liverpool hotel has been shortlisted for a conservation and a tourism award.
The base2stay Liverpool, which opened last September in a former print works in Seel Street as part of a £14m development, is a finalist for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors – North West awards in the building conservation and tourism and leisure categories.
The building, dating back to the 1850s, had lain derelict for 20 years before it was transformed into a four-star boutique hotel.
Part of the Western Heritable Group, the 106-room hotel was designed by Liverpool architect Austin-Smith:Lord and French interior decorator Clarissa Nadler.
Robert Nadler, base2stay chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for both these awards, which recognise the lengths to which we have gone in order to produce a stunning building that retains real historic value.”
The awards take place on Thursday, May 12 at Old Trafford.
