'Summer Sundays' Surprise Concert Square Patrons

The new vision for Concert Square has been launched with a series of free cultural events.

“Summer Sundays” took place between Concert Square and Ropewalks Square on Sunday 31st July, 7th, 14th and 21st August 2011, between the hours of 1.00pm and 5.00pm.

The events, organised by Culture Liverpool, was made up of street performers including jugglers, magicians, musicians, stilt walkers, poets, singers, street artists and novelty acts.

Laura Harris, Sales and Events manager for the Modo bar said:

“This event gave Concert Square a good shake-up and showed people that the area can have a really different and creative vibe in the daytime. All the activity was free and everyone was encouraged to participate.

“The performers were funny and entertained the crowds. It was great to see the reaction of some from some of the shoppers as the performers spread onto Bold Street”.

The square played host to a variety of acts including Granny Turismo, Musical Ruth, The Bad Mutha Funkas and lots more. Matt Biagetti, Liverpool Vision’s Area Investment Manager said:

“These events bring a new and very welcomed atmosphere to Concert Square. Our ultimate aim for the square is to provide a fun, safe environment where people can relax and be entertained.

“Concert Square is not only a place to drink. Patrons of Concert square can look forward to many more events like ‘Summer Sundays’ including, markets, cinema and music. Concert Square has a lot more surprises in store”.
