Two restaurant first for £200m Central Village Line-Up

Liverpool’s new £200 million leisure and retail development Central Village has attracted another two national restaurant brands to the city.

Exclusive pan-Asian restaurant Cosmo and handmade burger Co. are the latest operators to choose Central Village as the location for their first Liverpool outlets.

Cosmo will occupy 14,000 sq ft on the upper plaza level in the newly refurbished Lewis’s Building refurbishment, which will also see the unused upper floors brought back to life as 80,000 sq ft of offices and a 125-bed Adagio apartment–hotel.

The restaurant combines live cooking-theatre with fresh produce and will be the first of the chain’s already 13-strong restaurant portfolio to open in the north of England.

Handmade burger Co. will occupy 3,272 sq ft in the Central Village Boardwalk building, which will overlook the stepped water-race off Newington Square. The 120-seat restaurant, which will include outdoor seating on the boardwalk, will be handmade burger Co.’s 13th in the UK.

Famed for its use of only the finest and freshest ingredients available, the family-owned restaurant operation boasts an exclusive Jimmy’s Farm rare-breed beef range and a strong fresh food philosophy.

Ian Jones, director at Merepark, the developer responsible for Central Village said: “This is the latest in a string of operators to sign up to Central Village and shows the scheme as an attractive proposition, capable of bringing new restaurant and leisure brands into the city.”

Tom Chan, the founder of Cosmo, said: “A key element of the Cosmo dining experience is based on stunning surroundings and the Lewis’s building will give us just that. It’s an iconic location and will give us a high profile address in the heart of the Liverpool’s newest leisure and retail district.”

Chris Sargeant, handmade burger Co owner said: “Central Village has already attracted some great retail and leisure brands so it was an obvious choice for our first move into Liverpool and the North West.”

These deals follow recent lettings to Frankie & Bennys and Chiquito as well as Odeon, for its second cinema in the city.

Central Village will extend the city’s retail and leisure core with three new hotels, offices, retail outlets, restaurants, bars, cafes, a new public car park, residential buildings, six cinema screens and landscaped public space, including a boardwalk and water feature.

When complete the scheme will transform six acres of land behind Liverpool Central Station, Renshaw Street and Bold Street and is heralded as Liverpool’s largest regeneration scheme.

Savills advised Merepark on Cosmo and CBRE advised on handmade burger Co. who were represented by Burley Browne.
