YFM identifies surge in demand from Merseyside businesses for new Mezz product

In the last 3 months YFM Equity Partner’s North West team has seen over 60% growth in enquiries for funding from their new Mezz product from businesses across Merseyside.

Explaining the growth in enquiries, Simon Cleaver, investment director for The North West Fund for Development Capital, managed by YFM Equity Partners, said:

“New enquiries into the fund from Merseyside businesses are up by nearly two thirds on this time last year. We understand that finance is scarce at the moment and there is a lack of confidence in the economy. Merseyside businesses need more finance than their bank can provide for them to grow. Our new product fills a gap in the market and allows businesses to move forward by providing them with an injection of new funding, without them having to part with a large shareholding.

“A loan with a small equity option, Mezz suits businesses looking to finance their expansion plans, raise money for capital expenditure, develop new markets, recruit new staff or to fund every-day cash flow needs.”

Joseph Bergin, Head of YFM Equity Partners for the North West adds:

“We have developed the right product at the right time to help Merseyside’s businesses grow. Our North West team is dedicated to working with management to create transformational growth and success across a broad range of business sectors. YFM Equity Partners has been doing this for almost 30 years and has a portfolio of over 200 companies throughout the UK.”

Andy Leach, CEO of North West Business Finance, managers of The North West Fund, adds:

“YFM has researched deal requirements in Merseyside specifically and has discovered a gap in the market for a product like Mezz. 40% of the Fund is to be invested in Merseyside so this is a great vehicle for local businesses and we look forward to seeing deals coming forward.”

Mezz is available to companies more than five years old with annual profits greater than £250,000, which are based in the North West.

The £45m North West Fund for Development Capital is one of six specialist funds that make up The North West Fund, a £185m Investment Fund available for SMEs based in, or relocating to, the North West of England. The North West Fund is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
