BusinessLiverpool is a joint venture company limited by guarantee, between Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Liverpool City Council. BusinessLiverpool has a board of 12 comprising 6 independent non-executive directors, the leader of Liverpool City Council, an elected councilor, the Chair and Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce, and the Company's Chair and Chief Executive.

The board has responsibility for the overall strategy of the company and has a strong private sector representation to ensure close alignment with the needs and timescales of the business community and enable the delivery of more effective and relevant business support in Liverpool.

Control

Control of BusinessLiverpool is exercised by the joint-venture partners, although Liverpool City Council has agreed not to vote more than 20% of the total votes. This underpins the independence of BusinessLiverpool and is therefore one more reason why we are not just "one more agency" but a new force in the promotion of investment in the city.

Governance

Business Liverpool operates to best practice standards of corporate governance to ensure for the benefit of all stakeholders that our operations are fully transparent. To this end we are structure with a - separate Chair and CEO, with a strong independent Board. Major strategic, investment or grant decisions are reserved to the Board.
