Merseyside ACME was established in 1997 as the first creative industries sector development agency in the UK and has worked to support the growth and sustainability of creative businesses based on Merseyside.
ACME exists to support the Creative Industries on Merseyside to develop as a prosperous, vibrant and confident sector; brimming with creative people, businesses and ideas and building upon international recognition for innovation, talent, quality and enterprise.
ACME's objective is to look to achieve sustainability for new, existing and growing enterprises in the sector. It sees its mission as helping to secure this vision and grow sustainable employment in the sector through capacity building, partnership, enterprise and market development.
ACME has lead responsibility for policy and strategy and on behalf of North West Development Agency and Government Office North West develops and implements best practice projects designed to stimulate and accelerate growth in the sector.
Most recently, Merseyside ACME has launched the Kin website (www.kin2kin.co.uk). Kin has been developed with local creative businesses to link up Liverpool and Merseyside's creative business people. The useful contacts section is made available to Kin members, who represent the creative industries right across the spectrum, from fashion, design and craft to music, dance and the arts.
